Sr Team Roping Heeler

Ethel, LA
From LA, Blake Lyons, cleaned up the backside to claim the World Champion Senior Heeling title, roping for Jeb Stewart of Mississippi.  Parents, Brook and Lara Lyons, have been very supportive and sacrificed a lot to get him up and down the rodeo rode.  His supportive family, including sister Sydnie, has helped him get to where he his today.
Enjoying fishing, golfing and basketball, Blake continues to rodeo for Pearl River Community College and hopes to represent them at the College National Finals Rodeo.  Riding a 16-year-old dun gelding named Lefty, Blake says he “is blessed beyond measure, it was a dream come true” to win this World Championship.
Blake says it takes “hard work, dedication, faith in Jesus Christ and people that want to help you succeed” owing much of his success to Steve and Tara Kinchen who have helped him grow as a horseman and roper over the last five years.  “Unlike most of my rodeo friends, I didn’t grow up on a farm or riding horses, I am thankful for their guidance.”
