Little Wrangler Barrel RacerStephenville, TX A three year member of the NLBRA Maddi started competed with us at just seven years old, as a nine year old she claimed the Little Wrangler Barrel Racing World Championship on her horse Handyman. She describes him as “being like Garfield because he is super moody!” she says “he is my best friend and I can always count on him to be the best!” This little cowgirl accomplished more than thing with winning this title, along with it she won her very first saddle. “It was amazing and I still can’t believe it’s real.” Maddi said that winning the Little Wrangler World title was also “Kinda cool, because my dads name is Wrangler.” This little cowgirl isn’t just a hand in the arena, finishing in the top ten in the world in pole bending on her horse Slim that she had started in poles only five short months before the finals. She also enjoys tumbling, playing volleyball and representing rodeo as the Miss Cowboy Capitol PRCA Princess. In the future she plans on staying competitive in the barrels and hopes to make the National Finals Rodeo her Rookie Year. As a champion she knows it takes a lot of practice and hard work and remembers the words of her trainer, Polly Hagey, “If you’re not a good loser, you’ll never be a good winner.” Written by Shawnee Sagers
