Jr Girl Trail CourseOkmulgee, OK Keeping a world title in the Sooner State, is Bleu Hall, an Oklahoma cowgirl that was crowned the 2021 NLBRA World Champion in the Junior Girl Trail Course. Bleu dominated at the NLBRA Finals, placing second in the first go and taking home the champion buckle the rest of the week, winning both the second go, short go and the National Finals Average Champion. She also posted the fastest time of the week in the junior girls trail course. Bleu also excels in the roping arena qualifying to Vegas Tuffest where she will compete in December. She not not only competes well but she competes with true sportsmanship and shows kindness outside the arena. During the week of nationals in OK another competitors horse got hurt, putting a post on Facebook asking for help, she offered hers to be used in the senior girls trail course for the second go and the short go. Sr Team Roping HeelerEthel, LA From LA, Blake Lyons, cleaned up the backside to claim the World Champion Senior Heeling title, roping for Jeb Stewart of Mississippi. Parents, Brook and Lara Lyons, have been very supportive and sacrificed a lot to get him up and down the rodeo rode. His supportive family, including sister Sydnie, has helped him get to where he his today. Enjoying fishing, golfing and basketball, Blake continues to rodeo for Pearl River Community College and hopes to represent them at the College National Finals Rodeo. Riding a 16-year-old dun gelding named Lefty, Blake says he “is blessed beyond measure, it was a dream come true” to win this World Championship. Blake says it takes “hard work, dedication, faith in Jesus Christ and people that want to help you succeed” owing much of his success to Steve and Tara Kinchen who have helped him grow as a horseman and roper over the last five years. “Unlike most of my rodeo friends, I didn’t grow up on a farm or riding horses, I am thankful for their guidance.” Written by Shawnee Sagers
Jr Girl Barrel RacingHopkinsville, KY With one of the largest and toughest groups of junior girl barrel race that has ever crossed the arena dirt at the NLBRA National Finals, one girl came out victorious. Ava Boyd finished the 2021 rodeo season as the Junior Girl World Champion Barrel Racer. Not only did she load up a new world champion saddle in her trailer on her way back to KY, she also loaded up a decent amount of buckles as well. Throughout her week at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, OK she competed strong all week long and only getting better each go round. Placing 11th in the first go round, jumping up to 5th place in the second go round claiming a hand crafted Tres Rios buckle and finishing in the reserve champion position on Short Go Sunday. That wasn’t the end of her winning during her week in July, Boyd was also able to claim the National Finals Average Champion buckle to her collection. Written by Shawnee Sagers
Jr Ribbon Roping World ChampionAiden Perrett Luverne, AL In July a pair of young cowboys left AL with a goal and drove away from OK one week later as World Champions. Aiden Perrett, and his partner claimed the 2021 World Champion Junior Ribbon Roper title. With John Gohagan the two of them found themselves in the winners circle more than once during the NLBRA National Finals winning the championship buckle in go round number one, the championship buckle in the short go and the National Finals Average Champion buckle. The entire week the team never dropped lower than sixth place. An impressive National Finals and a consistent year the AL boys found themselves victorious and can add the title of World Champion to their collection of victories. Written by Shawnee Sagers
Sr Boy Saddle BroncDeridder, LA There must be something in the water in Deridder, LA, with two of the three Senior Boy World Champion Roughstock title making their way back there. Coy Hebert of the pelican state took home the 2021 NLBRA World Champion Saddle Bronc Riding saddle. Placing no lower than third place the entire Finals, Hebert, dominated at the NLBRA National Finals. Taking home the first place buckle in the first go round, second go round and the average. This young man found success other places this summer doing well at both the International Finals Youth Rodeo (IFYR) and the National High School Finals Rodeo (NHSFR). Written by Shawnee Sagers
